Which oil is best for hair growth and thickness?
No topical oil has been shown to make a follicle produce hair faster. Minoxidil is the ingredient with that evidence, and it is a medicine. What oils reliably do is reduce breakage, so hair looks thicker at the ends and longer over time because you stop losing it.
What oil is good for hair growth if oils do not grow hair?
Ask a different question: which oil keeps the hair you already have. Any oil that coats does that, and coconut oil has the best data for reducing protein loss in washing. Mineral oil, the base here, coats very effectively. Judge on how hair feels after two weeks.
Is this a hair growth oil for men?
It works the same on anyone’s hair. Male pattern hair loss is driven by hormones acting on the follicle, and nothing in this bottle touches that — so if your hairline is receding or the crown is thinning, an oil will not hold it. It is useful for dryness, roughness and breakage, which affect everyone.
Will it help with dandruff?
Sometimes, and not for the reason people expect. Flaking on a dry scalp softens when you oil before washing. Flaking that is greasy, yellowish and itchy is usually seborrhoeic dermatitis, and oil can worsen that. If your flakes are oily rather than dusty, use a medicated shampoo.
How often should I use it?
Twice a week, as a pre-wash treatment, suits most people. Fine or oily hair may prefer once a week and ends only. Very dry, coarse or chemically treated hair can take three times. There is no benefit to leaving it on for days, and a scalp left oiled between washes tends to itch.
Will it stain anything?
It can. Henna extract and oil colour are both in the formula, so the oil is tinted. On a white pillowcase, a pale towel, or grey and blonde hair left overnight, expect transfer. Use a dark towel, and test a small section first if your hair is very pale.
Can I use it on my beard?
We would not recommend it for that. The formula includes henna extract and an added colour, and facial skin is far more likely to show staining than a scalp under hair. A plain, uncoloured oil is a better choice for a beard.
Does it need washing out?
Yes, and it takes two shampoos. Mineral oil does not rinse away in water, and a single wash leaves enough behind to make hair look limp — which is what people mean when they say an oil weighed their hair down. Shampoo, rinse, shampoo again, then condition the ends only.
