Will a glutathione soap lighten my skin?
No, and we would rather lose the sale than say otherwise. Glutathione is a large, unstable molecule, the evidence for topical use is limited, and a rinse-off product gives it seconds of contact. If tone is your goal, a leave-on cream or serum is the format that can plausibly work.
Why is it gentler than the other bars?
Because it has no SLS and no free acids. Cleaning is done by PEG-7 and a soap base, and dimethicone, glycerine and two proteins soften the finish. Our Beauty Soap uses free kojic acid and SLS, which is more active and considerably harder on the skin.
Can I use it twice a day?
Yes, which is unusual for a whitening bar. There is nothing exfoliating in it and nothing that builds up sensitivity, so morning and evening is reasonable for most skin. If your skin still feels tight afterwards, once a day and a richer moisturiser.
Does the silicone clog pores?
Dimethicone is non-comedogenic and, in a rinse-off, most of it goes down the drain anyway. What stays is a very thin film. If you are acne-prone and cautious about silicones, the effect here is far smaller than in a leave-on product.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
More than most bars in the range, though it does contain fragrance. If fragrance is your trigger, this is not the answer. If sulphates and acids are what usually catch you out, this bar avoids both and is worth a patch test on the jaw.
Can I use it on my body?
Yes, and it is a good body bar. Mild enough for daily use everywhere, including areas that get shaved, though give freshly shaved skin a few hours first. A 100gm bar will last four to six weeks with full-body use, less if you are also washing your face with it.
How does it compare to the Beauty Soap?
Different jobs. The Beauty Soap is the active one, built on free kojic acid and arbutin, and it can sting. This is the comfortable one. If you want tone work from a bar, that one. If you want a wash that does not fight you, this one.
Does the milk protein matter?
Only if you have a milk allergy, and then it matters a great deal. Dairy-derived ingredients in soap are easy to miss because nobody reads a bar’s ingredient list expecting to find them. The full soap range has options without it.
