Beauty Face Wash 75ml

• Built for oil, not for comfort: Sunscreen, makeup and a humid commute come off in one wash. Dry or reactive skin will feel that.
• The moisturiser is not optional: Nothing in the formula stays behind to soften the finish, so the next step has to do that job.
• Once a day is plenty: Water in the morning and this at night suits most people better than using something this strong twice.
• Sixty millilitres goes far: A pea-sized amount foams enough for a whole face, so one tube runs roughly two months.
• Honest about who it is wrong for: If your face stings, flushes or tightens after cleansing, this is not the wash to experiment with.

Ammonium lauryl sulphate — An anionic detergent, marginally milder than its sodium cousin and still among the strongest used in cosmetics. It sits second.

The two sulphates together — Listed back to back at positions two and three. Most washes pair a sulphate with a betaine or glucoside to soften it. Neither is here.

Aloe vera and milk extracts — Eleventh of thirteen, so read them as a gesture rather than a feature. Milk protein is also a dairy allergen worth noticing.

Sodium benzoate — A preservative that works properly only in acidic conditions. In a wash on the alkaline side it does less than its position suggests.

The honest limitation: there is no humectant that stays behind, no oil, no ceramide and nothing soothing in any meaningful quantity. This is a cleanser and only a cleanser. If your skin is dry, reactive or prone to flushing, the sulphate-free wash in the Whitening range was built for you and this one was not.

Full ingredients (INCI),

Glycerine, Sodium Benzoate, Vitamin Beads (Stable Vitamins), Aqua (Deionized Water)

1. Wet your face with lukewarm water. Hot water and a strong wash together is the combination that causes most complaints.
2. Use a pea-sized amount. More product does not clean more; it only strips more.
3. Work it in for twenty to thirty seconds, then rinse fully. Leftover wash along the jaw and hairline is a common cause of tightness.
4. Pat dry and leave the skin slightly damp.
5. Moisturise within about three minutes, every single time. With this wash that step is part of the product.

What does ‘deep clean’ actually mean for a face wash?

Less than the phrase suggests. No cleanser reaches below the outer layer of skin, so ‘deep’ means it clears the surface and the mouth of the pore thoroughly rather than reaching anything underneath. What varies between washes is how much of your own oil goes with it. This one takes a lot.

Can you use aloe vera as face wash on its own?

Not really, because aloe has no cleansing action — it will not remove sunscreen, makeup or the day’s oil. What it does do is soothe, which is why it turns up in so many washes. If you like it, aloe gel is far more useful as the step after cleansing than as the cleansing step itself.

Should I use it morning and night?

Most people do better with once a day, at night, and plain water in the morning. Your skin has not accumulated much overnight, and washing a strong wash over a face twice daily is the fastest route to the tight, flaky, oddly oily state that follows over-cleansing.

My face feels tight and squeaky afterwards. Is that a good sign?

No, and this is worth unlearning. Squeaky means the surface has lost its own oils along with the dirt, and skin responds to that by producing more oil, not less. A wash that leaves your face comfortable has done the same cleaning job with less collateral damage.

Is it suitable for dry or sensitive skin?

We would say no. Two strong sulphates with nothing to buffer them is the wrong build for skin that is already dry, reactive or prone to redness. There are milder cleansers in the Face Fresh range, and pointing you at one of those is more useful than selling you this.

Will it help with blackheads?

It will keep the surface clear, which stops new ones forming as readily. It will not empty a blackhead that is already there — that needs something oil-soluble that can get inside the pore, and there is nothing like that in this formula. Washing harder will not change that.

Does it take off sunscreen and makeup?

Yes, in one pass, which is genuinely the thing it is best at. Heavy waterproof formulas still come off more comfortably with an oil or balm first, followed by this. That order means you can use less of the wash, which is worth doing with a cleanser this strong.

How does it differ from the other Face Fresh washes?

It is the least buffered of them. The Fairness and Gold Plus washes are soap-based with softening agents, the Whitening wash is sulphate-free entirely, and the Cleanser wash carries a mild acid. This one is the straightforward strong detergent, which suits oily skin and very little else.
