How much should I use, and where?
Think in fingertips rather than handfuls. A fingertip covers both elbows or both knees; a little more does the back of the neck and the knuckles. Spread that same amount over a whole body and you get a film too thin to seal anything, which is the most common way this product disappoints.
Should I buy the cream or the matching lotion?
They do different jobs. The cream is thick and stays where it is put, so it suits small, rough, dark patches. The matching 400ml lotion spreads far enough to cover arms, legs and back, and carries more tone ingredients. Many people use the lotion daily and keep this jar for problem areas.
Will it mark my clothes or bedsheets?
It can. Petrolatum and mineral oil are the fourth and fifth ingredients and neither absorbs, so the cream sits on the surface until friction takes it off. Give it five minutes before dressing, use it at night on covered areas, and use a lighter product under anything pale.
The name says face and body — which is it really for?
It is honest either way, but the format points to the body. A 225 gram jar is a lot of cream for a face, and the occlusive base is heavier than most people want on facial skin. If your face is the main concern, the rest of our creams includes lighter options in smaller sizes, and the full Yusma range has a face-only jar.
Will it lighten dark underarms?
It may help, slowly, because underarm darkening is usually friction, shaving and dryness rather than sun. How friction darkens skin is worth understanding before you buy anything for it. Softer, better-hydrated skin looks lighter within weeks, but there is only one tone ingredient here, so this is not a targeted underarm product.
How long before dark knees and elbows look different?
The texture usually changes first — within a week or two the skin feels less rough and reflects light more evenly, which reads as lighter. Actual tone change from vitamin B3 is slower, and eight to twelve weeks of nightly use is a fair test. On heels and knuckles, our hand and foot scrub gets to the smoothness faster.
Is it safe on skin that has just been shaved or waxed?
Wait a day. Freshly shaved or waxed skin has open follicles and a disturbed surface, and the fragrance in this cream is the part most likely to sting. Once the skin has settled it is a good choice for those areas, because friction is what darkened them in the first place.
Does a 225gm jar go further than a 400ml lotion?
Only if you use them for what they suit. Per square centimetre the jar delivers far more product, which is why it is the better choice on a small area and the worse one on a large area. On coverage alone, the 400ml bottle wins comfortably.
