Whitening Soap for Dry Skin 100gm

• Petrolatum survives the wash: It is not converted into soap, so a thin film stays on the skin after the lather goes down the drain.
• Almond oil softens the lather: A good soap for dry skin feels creamy rather than squeaky, and the oleic acid in almond oil is why.
• Made for the body more than the face: Legs, arms and back tolerate a bar better than facial skin, which is thinner and reacts sooner.
• Two ingredients apart from the normal bar: Petrolatum and almond oil are the whole difference; everything else in the two lists matches.
• The bar is half the jo: Whatever you put on afterwards does the actual moisturising. This one simply does not sabotage it.

Thirteen ingredients. Two of them exist to undo some of what the other eleven do.

Almond Oil — Sweet almond oil is oleic-rich and softening. It is also a tree nut, so avoid this bar if you have a nut allergy.

Petrolatum — The lye cannot touch it, because there is nothing to react with, so all of it stays in the bar and deposits on rinsing.

Coconut Oil — The most cleansing soap base there is, and the thing the petrolatum and almond oil exist to counterbalance.

Fragrance — Perfume is one of the commonest causes of contact irritation, and dry, cracked skin is where it is most likely to show.

Two things worth saying plainly. Our Beauty Soap pulls the same trick with mineral oil, so leaving fat in a bar is not unique to this one. And if your skin is cracked, itchy or eczema-prone, a soap-free syndet bar will beat any true soap — this one included. We would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong bar twice.

Vegetable Palm Oil, Aqua, Coconut Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Petrolatum, Lauric Acid, Almond Oil, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide, Niacinamide, α-Arbutin, Fragrance, CI 19140.

1. Use warm water, not hot. Heat strips more lipid than any soap in this list.
2. Lather in your hands and apply the foam rather than dragging the bar over dry patches.
3. Keep the wash short — under a minute on the body, twenty seconds on the face.
4. Rinse, then pat dry and leave the skin slightly damp.
5. Apply a lotion or cream within three minutes, while there is still water on the surface to trap.
6. Once a day is enough on dry skin. Twice is usually one wash too many.
7. Store the bar somewhere it can drain, or it will soften and go through fast.

What soap is good for dry skin, really?

One that cleans in the shortest time with the least stripping, and leaves something behind. In practice that means a bar with fat left in it, a short wash, warm rather than hot water, and a moisturiser straight after. The bar matters less than the routine around it, which is not what most product pages will tell you.

Does petrolatum clog pores?

Not on most people. Its molecules are large and sit on the surface rather than working into a pore, and it is rated non-comedogenic in the usual testing. On very acne-prone facial skin some people still react to occlusives generally. If that is you, keep this bar for the body.

Is almond oil a problem if I have a nut allergy?

It can be, and it is worth taking seriously. Sweet almond is a tree nut. Refined oils carry very little of the protein that triggers reactions, but a soap bar goes on a lot of skin, sometimes broken skin. If you have a diagnosed tree-nut allergy, use the normal-skin bar instead — it has no almond oil in it.

Why does my skin still feel tight ten minutes later?

Because a wash of any kind removes surface lipid, and dry skin has less to spare. Tightness that fades within an hour after moisturising is normal. Tightness that stays, or comes with flaking or itching, means the cleanse is too much — shorten it, cool the water, or move to a soap-free bar.

Is it too rich for facial skin?

For most dry faces, no. For oily or combination skin, yes — the petrolatum will feel heavy and the film it leaves is the opposite of what you want. If your face is dry but your back and chest are not, use this on the face and something lighter below the neck.

How is it different from the normal-skin bar?

By exactly two ingredients: petrolatum and almond oil. The palm and coconut soap base, the lye, the lauric acid, the glycerin, the titanium dioxide, the niacinamide and the arbutin are all shared. Only the colourant changes, which is there so you can tell the bars apart, not for your skin.

Does it help with rough patches on elbows and knees?

It helps a little and it will not solve them. Those patches are thickened skin as much as dry skin, so they need something left on — a thick cream, applied daily, over weeks. The bar’s contribution is not making them worse, which is more than a plain soap manages.

Is it worth switching if I already use a body wash?

Only if your current wash leaves you tight. A well-made creamy body wash is usually gentler than a true soap, so switching to a bar is a step sideways at best. Where a bar wins is cost per wash and how long 100g lasts. Comfort first, price second.
